The WAY...in a dark world.

This morning before church I decided to go ahead and get my run out of the way. It was cooler than usual and Lord knows I'll take running in cooler temps in day!:)

I have a route that I like to run and it takes me through KOA campgrounds.  I love running through the campground.  It always reminds me of my childhood and camping on our family vacations.  I can smell campers cooking breakfast and it's just a peaceful place!  Every time I run through KOA, I see my little duck friends!:). They are always in my path at some point during my run, and they are just so cute!

Today I snapped this picture for the girls, as I almost always do, and headed back down the road.
I couldn't help but notice a few things about my view today!

First, these ducks were on a mission.  The sun had just come up and they were walking with a purpose.  There was one leader....and many ducks, all shapes and sizes following behind him.  They followed their leader for they knew that he knew where he was going.  He had plan.  They may have not known his plan at that time, but they knew enough to know they trusted he knew the way. The way from the dark of night....into the light.

I too have a leader.  His name is Jesus.  He is the way.  He is the only way and the only one who should lead my life.  I trust him to guide me, to fill me, and to fulfill his plan for me.  I may not always see his plans, or see where He is taking me, but I know He walks ahead of me...mapping my way.  With plans created just me me.  May I always let Him lead and may I always follow. With a purpose.

Secondly, I noticed that all of the ducks were the same color except one little white duck.  He was right in the middle of the gang, and he stuck out like a sore thumb.  He was different.  He was the same shape and size of some of the other ducks, but because he was white he brought more attention on to himself.  He was noticed.  He was different.

How too often do we label people as "Different" just because they don't look like us, talk like us, live like us?  We judge others based on our ideas of good and accetable. If only we could see souls as Jesus see's them.  I love that little whitey was right in the middle of the mix.  He had some buddies in the front, and some in the back.  A traveling pack.  All together.  All with a purpose.  All following their leader!
I was reminded today that our purpose is to love others and point them to Jesus.  That's it.  It's not secluded to those we are comfortable with.  Or those we think are more like us.  But to everyone in the human race.  May we gather up a soul, put them in the middle of the pack and walk with them....out of the darkness of this world...following The Way, into the light!

I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.  I will advise you and watch over you.  Psalm 32:8
